Mission Slimpossible
This team seems to genuinely like each other and I believe many new friendships have been formed. They are doing a great job of pooling their resources. Heidi is an amazing captain and really seems to have gotten to know all or the people on her team. The team very cutely acknowledged how much they appreciate Heidi’s efforts. They are focusing on Body fat right now, which I think is brilliant. Best of all, Mini got an excellent report from the doctor!!!
Virtual Warriors
Teams are kind of like families and I believe that you measure the strength of a family on how they respond when times are tough. Well times are very tough for Amorette right now, as she single handily cares for her mother through a very serious surgery. The team has done everything in their power to keep Amorette’s spirits up and demonstrated just how special being part of a team can be. This to me, as as value as completing a Iron Man type race.
I loved reading Debbie’s report about how she feels like she is in top-notch shape, going into a event that is important to her. You can look amazing, be in rock start physical shape, but unless you know it, feel it and can appreciate, it has no value.
Please watch this must see video to see how the Virtual Warriors are staying connected from afar, keeping their sense of humor, and fighting off fitness enemies! HYSTERICAL!ps Debbie you can have ALL My jeans because after coming up with all these crazy workouts to help you get your contest results- I might have to go down a size!
Century 21
This team is amazed with themselves and quite frankly; I am pretty amazed as well!!! Tem Captain Jodi has earned my respect in so many ways over the past 18 months and to see her pay it all forward, puts a lump in my throat.
This team took the no processed food challenge to a whole new level. I would not be surprised to see them out in the woods gathering their food this winter. What I really like that is in the end they concluded, it is ok to have some processed foods but eat clean, when you can. Everything is ok in moderation.
Some have had their best week ever!!! In week 5, that is a pretty powerful statement. They are sharing their crazy workouts and healthy ways with friends across the country, posting workouts and encouragement.
Scheduling all of their workouts for the week, using the top moves I sent out, accepting ALL team Challenges and “accomplishing everything that they set out to do.”
This week, they recognize the amazing Christy who has beat Breast Cancer and taken a new lease on life with powerful decisions regarding her health. I love that she said she would never do Winter BootCamp!! Never say never Christy!
Team 7
Team 7 continues to run like a well-oiled machine!!! My favorite part of their report was hearing that they took a day off!!! They sent some hysterical pics, sleeping on exercise bikes, and with Leberts in hand.
They took on Summer Challenge #5 (which was a favorite of mine). 500 Squats and 100 flights of stairs! This in addition to their crazy 7 Challenge! After seeing most of the team in class last night, I have to tell you, THERE WORKOUTS ARE WORKING!!!! This team is looking good and it is more than just weight loss. There fitness is really starting to SHOW!
This team seems to be keeping each other in check, acknowledging boundaries, and keeping the FUN in their workouts!
Their Project week kept them VERY BUSY and was literally the talk of the town! If you have not heard, they have proposed a POST CONTET weigh in in May that everybody is welcome to! Lots of fun with the Superbowl PointsJ
This week’s diet 7 up awards went to a TRUE SUPER STAR TIM STRAIT. Just a year ago, he came to bring a friend, and could not even making it through the warm-up! Now one of the fittest duded in BC- he looks amazing and has the can do attitude to go with continued success. Having him coach me in the tire drill, had some really special meaning! Tim Strait RCOKS and Team 7 is lucky to have him as a late recruit!

Waist Management
I loved this very thoughtful and perceptive report. It was music to my ears to hear that several people on the team acknowledged that workouts make all the difference. Anybody can diet and lose weight. It is keeping it off, and figuring out how to lead a “normal” happy life once the weight is off that is tricky!
They were faced with many temptations this week and chose to give into a few, and guess what? They still lost weight!!!! It is not the one or two weekly temptations that put us in danger; it is the day to day. Figuring out to have some treats and not sabotage their efforts, at this point in the contest, is VERY admirable.
One participant mentioned that they are more tuned into the signs of being an emotional eater. Having a plan is always key! Another participant puts a smile in my heart, every time I read her words. THE LIGHTBULB has gone off! She has tried before and failed but THIS CONTEST is her time to shine!!!!
Another participant writes, “It is much more sustainable to be diligent with exercise and have a flexible diet than the other way around.” BRILLIANT!!!
2Fit 2Quit
This team is introducing each other to new workouts and keeping each other engaged and motivated! I love seeing over half of their team ROCKING Tuesday nights, when that is a class that they never used to attend!
They even planned a Team Workout at Rebounderz and may even be featured in the POST! Great team, great attitude
Brandon’s Brigade
This team is STAYING TOUGH!!! They even look intimidating when you see them in the their Harley style shirts, at the lot! They have taken on all Challenges, and have completed Sunday workouts in the wind and rain!
You may have missed it but their was a speck of flesh that appeared a few times last Tuesday night. That was Dave M doing sprints. Something the team all decided would be a good idea to shock their bodies!
Brandon is the only contest participant that has been a Captain all 3 years! I believe that there I something to be said for that and appreciate his willingness to be a leader and take all of the many administrative responsibilities. As he mentioned, in his report, he now has the experience to know what this point in the contest feels like, which in the end, I think will really help his team.

WEEK 4
TEAM WORK
Mission Slimpossible
This week’s report really wowed me and the team is defining teamwork in a very practical, yet touching way. The level of communication and respect that this team is demonstrating for one another is top notch. I really like reports where I can get a sense of how the team is doing as a group as well as individually. I believe this report was the best one that I got to date in regard to those criteria. This team has everything that it takes for continued success; they are celebrating their accomplishments and looking at how they can be even better.
I also like that this team seems to be gaining strength as we enter the midway point of the competition. When one team member becomes injured, the entire rallied, and contributed more than they had been to show their support.
I loved the highs and low reporting and was truly motivated by the words of the team.
“One thing that was fun this week was to create a week at a glance calendar and tape the challenges to it. I could makes notes of what I accomplished each day and check off the daily reps that I needed to do and record my miles.”
“I think I am at a point where weight loss is going to get a little harder for me. I want to be healthy about it, so I will not cut out crazy amounts of calories and add 2-hour cardio sessions. I just need to be patient and trust the course I am on. Slow and steady.”
Virtual Warriors
This team remains strong and declared the midway point of thecontest to be hump week, working it into part of their challenge. They took themselves out of their comfort with the Waist Management challenge and worked hard to accumulate an impressive number of miles. Some team members impressed themselves with laps in the pool, which they did not think possible.
This team is really inspired and motivated by one another, which is great to see. Their out of state participant was highly recognized this week for his dedication and words of encouragement from a far.
The Warriors took the MMA Challenge and won and continued their commitment to water, workouts, and limited alcohol consumption.
Nutritionally they worked on consuming good fats and lowering fat intake but smartly realized with all of the added workouts and with the goal of weightless, they needed to keep fat in their diets.
Century 21 declares NO EXCUSES
“From the beginning of the contest, my team had a hunch that Week 4 would be our toughest week mentally, and by the end of Week 3, it was looking like that hunch would be right. Exhaustion, weariness, and fatigue were all starting to set in. Vacations, busy work schedules, and travel for work, were on the horizon. Any one of these things would be enough to hold someone back from making their health a priority. But really they are excuses that keep us from being the best we can be. We absolutely must listen to our bodies and take time away when needed, but we also must absolutely be honest with ourselves and know when we are making excuses. That is why Week 4 was “No Excuses” week for Century 21!”
In addition to getting in an outstanding number of workouts, this team completed many strength, conditioning and challenge workouts and acknowledged that their efforts are paying off, which is always great to hear.
This may be my favorite comment of the week. ”I wish I could bottle up the way I feel on Saturday after boot camp…it’s a feeling of complete pride, happiness, motivation and strength. I LOVE IT!!!”
As I was reading this team’s reflection I was especially impressed. They have really taken themselves out of their comfort zone with their workouts. They really support and encourage one another and are probably the most diverse team in the competition. Century 21 should be really proud of their accomplishments so far!
In addition, this team shared an impressive gallery of pictures contain some delicious and healthy meals.
Team 7
Not sure how this team had to make a 6-minute video about Kale with all the walking, running, biking, swimming, group workouts, and shout outs to other teams but they somehow managed it all! Injury free, I might add! They did a great job cross training to get their miles in and shared the pain through group workouts on the bike and running with anybody they could recruit.
Some might say they are over the top, obsessed, or fitness crazy but I was truly impressed by this teams efforts to achieve a number of miles that would seem impossible! This type of extreme exercise seems to generate excitement and positive energy for Team 7, which is really what the contest is all about. Fitting in all of those miles with all of their other commitments is truly remarkable and I commend their efforts.
Waist Management
This team had very busy and exciting week. Please keep in kind that your project portion of the contest is not considered in the weekly reports but the group efforts and team planning is certainly a factor in how your team operated as a team, for the week.
This team was very pleased with their week, as they should have been. As contenders in their own challenge, they had to really rally together to get the miles in due to team injuries and other issues that they were unable to control. They seemed to be motivated buy one another and in the end were thrilled with the number of miles they were able to pull, despite major obstacles.
This team had some phenomenal observations and I have shared below a fewer of the shorted but very poignant ones.
“My observation from the week was realizing how much energy a person can derive from others. When I finished our half marathon run last Sunday, my legs were very heavy and I would have given anything to lay on the sofa for a couple of hours. However, knowing we had family boot camp, I mustered up the energy to load up the truck and head up to the lot. Once there, I completely forgot about being tired and I loved being a part of watching all of the families exercise with one another. That day reinforced for me that I can harness the power of other people to drive myself beyond what I would otherwise do.”
“The family boot camp was a blast to see – so many kids and families doing fun, fitness-themed stuff. Great to see young kids out there to pre-teens. Great lessons to be taught to them about staying active and being fit. Glad to be a part of it.
One of the challenges in getting fruits and veggies to me is the time it takes to prepare them (especially salads). Thankfully, my wife usually makes a lot of salad for dinner, so I can take leftovers for lunch. That salad and a fruit smoothie for breakfast and other veggies for dinner usually give my full daily requirement.”
2Fit 2Quit
This team executed their project this week and was busy working together to come up with a unique out of the box experience for their peers that proved to be a great time by all!
One of the things that I really liked reading in this report was that while they have many people that are going to struggle with weight loss, their plan is to focus on the positive and really push to get as many workouts as possible. Their goal was to place in workouts and they did it! I LOVE GOALS!!!!
Brandon’s Brigade
This team also rocked Waist Management’s Challenge with some incredibly tough individual contributors. They are really using their Facebook to encourage, motivate and recognize one another and it seems to be working!
Instead of letting the plateau plague get them down, this team came up with some ways to add shock to their workouts and motivation to their minds!
“My week started out researching ways to avoid or break through plateaus. I knew most of us would be hitting one soon, if we hadn’t already. I knew it would be frustrating and might be a deal-breaker for some so I threw out, what I thought was, valuable strategies that I found on various fitness websites. How ironic that I hit my own plateau this week and saw a zero weight loss! But I was determined to kick some a** at BC on Saturday anyway. I was determined not to get frustrated even though I employed many of those strategies I threw out there. With diabetes running rampant in my family, I don’t see any choice but to get, and stay healthy. It’s important for my kids to see the value we put in our health and to respect our bodies. So, plateaus or not, I don’t see anyone on this team backing down. I think the second half of this contest will show the true tenacity of Brandon’s Brigade. The best is yet to come with this crew!”
YOU ARE ALL ROCKSTARS IN MY BOOK!!!! KEEP UP THE AMAZING ENERGY AND DO NOT LET THE SCALE BRING YOU DOWN! KEEP IN MIND THAT LACK OF EXERCISE/ACTIVITY IS A RISK FACTOR FOR EVERY DISEASE KNOWN TO MAN KIND AND YOUR BODIES AND MINDS ARE CHANGING FOR THE BETTER- EVEN IF THE SCALE IS STUCK!

Why I would vote for…
VIRTUAL WARRIORS
They challenged them selves to non-stop, hard core, wherever, whenever, no excuses squats and lunges and daily sit ups to fatigue or failure. They also sent along a video to demonstrate when and where they were fitting their leg work in http://youtu.be/UWg5RLk6JB4
The entire team accepted the Lebert Challenge put out bu Century 21 and the warriors were also the winner of the Lebert competition on Saturday. Th team presented a very clever and effective rowing exercise that can be done with one Lebert for 2 people!
2FIT 2QUIT (LOVE the name)
Also had an excellent week. They set goals for push ups and sit ups. Taking stairs whenever possible and eating 5 fruits and veggies a day! The team also continues to council and encourage one another,
BRANDON’S BRIGADE
This team seems to be doing a great job encouraging and motivating each other. They too set up a Face book page for daily interactions and motivations. They were proud of their max group workouts, 120 miles of running and 3000 meters of swimming.
MISSION SLIMPOSSIBLE
The team internal challenge of 100 sit ups and an extra assessment lap after class and to give up artificial beverages for the week. The team, voted Mini Ajmani as player of the week for her spirit efforts, and do attitude ( I could not agree more). They also highlighted Christina for going against Leia in the face off and Pam for getting to the lot to make sure she got the extra lap in.
This team seems to be doing a great job encouraging and motivating each other. They too set up a Facebook page for daily interactions and motivations. They were proud of their max group workouts, 120 miles of running and 3000 meters of swimming.
WAIST MANAGEMENT
Waist management is attacking the waist with nutritional strategies such as eating 5 small meals and drinking 100 oz of water a day. They continue to train with running, and many took on the Lebert Challenge. They also created a face book page and have used it to share snack and dinner ideas. They team bonded together to come up with a fantastic Lebert exercise for the core ( to represent their name). They also posted great pics of their Lebert brainstorming session on the wordpress site. Lastly, they delivered goodies bags with a tape measure and some waist exercises to all team captains. My favorite thing that I saw in the contest this week was a testimonial from a contest rooky that indicated a very honest and enlightening perspective of her contest journey thus far. I especially loved that she said that while the beginning was tough, she is finding herself with more energy. Those are magic words,
TEAM SEVEN
Has moved to habit #2 which they have translated to having goals is important to succeed. They introduced some of the new players to the famous garage workout. They also took on the Lebert Challenge and one of the toughest weeks of the summer challenge ( I am impressed that hey saved this). They took on a vegetarian diet for 2 diets and shared their struggles. They also use the share feature of fitness pal for accountability and team recognition. They continue to recognize their peers with every thoughtful and spot on 7 seconds shout outs. This week they initiated the Team 7- up yours award and recognized Les Peters with 7 things that he did well his week.
CENTURY 21ers
This team took on a fruits and vegetable Challenge and set the goal of continuing contest eating into everyday life. The team took on The Lebert Challenge that they had offered as part of their project week. This team was very busy this week with project week details but all information related to the project will be evaluated contest en fro the other 15% of the Team Challenge. In honor of Lebert week, Jane wrote a very clever poem:)
Roses are red,
my Lebert is pink,
after these situps
I will sure need a drink.
… Leberts are good,
really they are,
they bulk up our muscles,
they are much more than a mere bar.
So get your Lebert
Out of the trunk,
challenge yourself
and you will lose all that extra junk.
At Bootcamp they come out,
And line up the lot,
jump in, jump out
Thrust forward then squat.
Lebert is special,
Lebert is strong,
Lunges with Lebert,
You can’t go wrong
Who started the Lebert?
that would be Kelly,
But all she wanted,
Was for you a flat belly.
So we thank you Kelly,
for this Lebert so fun
from the most rockin’ team ever…
CENTURY 21

1st CENTURY 21
Why I would vote for…
Waist Management- Love the name and that they have tied it into their goals. Measuring the waist is a fabulous idea and from a health perspective, sometimes more important thanthe scale. Also love the pre run to get a baseline (you know how I love to see you beat your numbers)! Great to hear that participants are already feeling better and sleeping better!
Century 21- They obviously put a great deal of thought into their name and I am very aware of how a good theme can be an amazing driving force. Like the realistic limitations (as far as diet) that they put upon themselves realizing that 8 weeks is a long time. 100 miles of collective walking, swimming, and running was a lofty 1st week goal (especially with injured players) but they pulled together and did it! The FB page is a great way to communicate and avoid too many emails. I especially like the post from one playerstating that she needed her team to lift her up. The captains also noted how much she liked the angel of the week from 2 years ago and decided to bring it to her team. This team was also the first to get a team picture on the wordpress site, which seemed to motivate others to do so! Lastly, this team earned a place in my heart at the captains meeting when they took an earlier project week to help out a rooky captain, Jodi notes, in Roman times, Centurions were hand picked by their commander for their valor. She has chosen to highlight Greg and Jane for an outstanding week and detail why they were chosen!
Virtual Warriors- This name fits this team very well and deciding to set up a Facebookpage to share information was brilliant given they are spread between 3 statesJ Loved the pictures of the meals and the team bonding. I also like that this team has recognized that they have different fitness goals and limitations and will measure their success individually. They are building their fitness each week (great way to avoid injury and build confidence!)
Danielle Clay- This team is putting serious thought into a name and hasn’t found the right one yet. They have set daily physical goals and are being accountable to one another. I also like that they have already set the goal to continue healthy practices, throughout the competition and beyond. They seem to be very motivated by the accountability to one another and have great plans to stay motivated throughout the competition.
Team 7 (this is their name) also has a theme to take them through he next 8 weeks. Team 7 is incorporating the 7 Habits of Highly effective/healthy people, building each week, with a new habit. This week they are taking the initiative to be active and make good food choices (and log them). This team also created their own assessment (that I may have to steal) and will be tracking improvement over the next 8 weeks. I love that the assessment incorporates, speed, endurance, and strength, well done! My favorite thing that I have seen it the contest thus far is the picture of Team 7. They are holding an item that they would like to fit into at the end of the contest. I love this visual and tangible goal and that this team recognizes that the scale is not the only indicator of success! Lastly, this team has been recognizing the success of other participants throughout the week with a 7 second shout out! Just an email to say, we noticed you did a great job with… They even pointed out a few things that I had missed!
Mission Slimpossible- Heidi (a rooky to the contest) and has stepped up to be captain). This team dedicated to their teammates how many pounds they wanted to lose and how many workouts it would take them to get there. While you all set weigh and workout goals, I really like that this team pledged their losses to one another. The captain sent each team mate a toolbox, to help them meet their goals. They are planning to recognize and reward other participants that they catch working hard. In addition they are offering a free spring bootcamp to the team member that they vote to be the hardest working (what a wonderful prize)! Overall, this team seems very positive and enthusiastic!
Brandon’s Brigade- This team has strategized on how they can best utilize each other’s strengths. To help with healthy eating, they shared ideas for healthy snacks and meals. They also executed a team workout that Incorporated both cardio and core. I also like that this team is attempting to include their children into their

76 participants will be competing in this years Winter Contest
All participants were measured for weight and body fat and asked to approximate how many times a week they would be willing to workout
7 Captains strategize to create teams
The 7 teams will work together for 8 weeks to accumulate workouts, lose weight and body fat.
Each team will come up with a team name.
Workouts will be tracked beginning January 8th. Weeks will run from Sunday to Saturday and reports will due into kellysbootcamp@gmail.com inbox by Monday at noon. Team mates may all share in in reporting. The subject of each email should include Week# and team name.
Reports will include pounds lost/gained for each individual as well as number of 45 minutes for the week. You are only allowed to count one 45 minute workout a day for 6 days. Workouts must feel like exercise but can be broken down into shorter time segments.
25% of the contest is judged on how you work together as a team. Each week, the captains will send a summary of your week, which may include team mate testimonials. The summary must be 200 words or less and present an idea of how you are utilizing your team’s strategy and or support to work towards your goals.
The summaries will be compared and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be rewarded each week. I will be looking for strategizes that make sense for your teams goals and demonstrate you are helping and encouraging your team mates. 10% of the contest results will be based on these scores.
In summary the winning team is determined by rankings in all 4 categories. 25% is based on percent of weight loss; 25% is based on body fat; 25% is based on reported workouts; and 25% is based on teamwork. The teamwork piece is being weighted a little differently this year. 10% will be based on our weekly write ups and 15% is based on a team “project”. The project can be anything…it can be a challenge that you issue to all the other teams, it can be an event, it can be something ongoing, etc. Each team was given a week for their project (should they decide to issue a challenge or host an event).
